The Indonesian Association of Indonesian Mining Association (APBI) projected the 2018 coal price (HBA) will be at US $ 85 per ton. The price of coal will be determined by supply and demand. said Pandu Sjahrir as Chairman of APBI in Jakarta. He added that the government also wants coal production to be more stable and predictable for next year.

The effort to negotiate between companies of Coal Mining Concession Working Agreement (PKP2B) and government of conversion into Special Mining Business License (IUPK) will also affect HBA.
According to Pandu, APBI will release future projections by the end of 2017. From the production side, it is estimated that there will be a slight increase, but it will not be as big as the 2010-2011 period.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) determined that the October 2017 HBA rose by 2.13% to US $ 93.99 per ton compared to September’s US $ 92.03 per ton.

Dadan Kusdiana, Head of Communications, Public Information Services, and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said the world coal price indexes are on the rise, so HBA is also increasing.
The four indexes are Indonesia Coal Index (ICI), New Castle Global Coal (GC), New Castle Export Index (NEX) and Platts59. Each index has a weight of 25%.
