The ban on illegal mining activities which is operating in Prabu, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency has actually been issued since 2010 by HL Wiratmaja, the Central Lombok Regent then.
Last year, regent HM Suhaili FT also planned to close the mine site.
After reviewing the location on July 22, the Governor of NTB-Zulkiflimansyah claimed, “It is time for us to stop the illegal mining because besides damaging the beauty of nature, it is also very dangerous for the safety of our environment.”
It takes a long time to control this issue because it was under the authority of the district/city, now under the authority of the provincial government.
The plan to close the site also to prevent disruption to tourism development in Mandalika.
